Nepal Earthquake

Today’s speaker was Mike Bamford who gave an audio visual presentation on ‘Nepals Earthquake’.
It covered topics including geography,population and religion and his work with the Rotary Club.
Nepal is a poor country with a population of 26 million,most of which live at altitudes above 13000 feet.It has 8 out of the 14 highest mountains in the world.There are 2 main religions,Buddism and Hinduism.The latter having a caste system similar to India.Mark showed a short film of an earthquake taking place and facts figures showing the devastation caused.He highlighted his work with the Rotary Club to raise funds to help the population recover.The earthquake took place in April 2015 and its effects are still being felt.
