The Blue Nile
Today's speaker was Peter Drake who gave an audio visual presentation on the Blue Nile.
He described how although small the Blue Nile provided three quarters of the water for the main river. The source is at Lake Tarna and was discovered by James Bruce Book. He described the Ethiopians as a strange lot with an appetite for raw meat along with an interesting chat up style but with an island where no females were allowed, which some members found quite appealing.
His travels through the Nile lands of deserts, temples and ending in Cairo gave a excellent overview of one of his many expeditions in Africa.
