Life with a Guide Dog
Walter Young & Quincy (Meltham Probus)
Today’s speaker was our own Walter Young along with his 3rd dog 9 year old “Quinsy” who spoke on “Life with a guide dog”.
Walter described his reluctance to have a dog but was persuaded when he met a lady with a guide dog in Scarborough. He described the history of guide dogs started in 1932 in Switzerland. His first dog aptly named Blair much to the horror of his very blue wife and was the start of a life with a dog encouraging an independent life.
He blamed the dog for his appearance in the Ann Summers shop in town and he looked a bit peeved to take the blame.
Everyone enjoyed his stories and tales of life with a guide dog and there was a collection for the dogs for the blind association.
