Hard End to Buck House
Peter Armitage
The chairman presented Roy Brabiner a member for 25 years with his life member badge with applause and best wishes from all members.
Today’s speaker was Peter Armitage a local character who spoke on “Hard End to Buck House” covering his journey through his life from a street in Marsden to Buckingham Palace for his MBE.
He recalled a number of incidents and work experiences often humorous and in great detail he had over the years. These included a cabaret for Harold Wilson, the bombing of his uncle Alf’s pig sty, his time in the forces, the fire brigade and his prolific writing of Pantomimes for local entertainment.
Members were very entertained by his humorous quips and memories and could relate to many as he is a well-known local character.
