Wednesday 23 January 2019
Speaker: Jeff Jacklin

Today’s speaker was Jeffrey Jackling . He gave a talk entitled ‘ I used to be a Football Referee but I’m better now ‘

He gave an amusing audio visual talk on this subject. This included items such as : 7 things a referee needs for a match. Members guessed 6 of these items but forgot the most important one- which was a football !

He gave examples of incidents that took place over his career, including an Under 17 match that overran the allotted time due to him not looking at his watch.

He showed a video of referees best and worst moments including dancing refs, and some refs ‘accidentally’ being injured by players.

He also recounted a tale of a match at Broadmoor Mental Hospital when , during half time a patient/linesman confessed to murdering his wife and family.
