Visit to Advanced Manufacturing Centre, Sheffield

About 20 Probus members and 2 wives visited the Advanced Manufacturing Centre

which is close to Junction 33 on the M1 near to both Sheffield and Rotherham.

We were shown around one factory which is full of expensive machines including some

3D printers. Also we examined some  lightweight but very strong "composite" components for 

aircraft landing gear etc.

The first factory was commissioned in 2004 and there are now many other factories on this site

including ones for Mclaren, Rolls Royce and Boeing. Very impressive!!!

The visit was rounded off by lunch at the nearby fish and chip restaurant!
