North Yorkshire Moors Railway, 40th Anniversary Trip
To celebrate the 40th year of the Probus Club of Meltham, 38 people boarded a coach in Meltham for the journey to Whitby.
In Whitby, we spent about 2.5 hours exploring the town and finding something to eat (fish and chips seemed to the be the preferred option).
We all met up again at the station to board the 2 o'clock steam train for the ride to Pickering. There was some confusion as to which carriage had been reserved for us and another party, which ended up with each party boarding the wrong carriage initially. An enjoyable train ride. Wildlife spotted included rabbits, partridges, pheasants but the best was a roe deer.
Arriving at Pickering, we picked up the coach for the return home. A day out that everyone agreed was a good one.
