The Chairman introduced Geoff Budd who gave a comprehensive talk about his
visit to North Korea
When he visited, he used the Jules Verne company. It was only their second
organised trip to the country. They flew from Beijing to Pyongyang which had
quite a small airport as there were vey few flights.
He described how empty the roads were and that the group had their guides
with them all the time.
The two previous leaders of this regime Kim Yong-nam known as the Eternal
President and his son Kim Jong II had portraits around the city while the
current Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un’s portrait was not evident.
He pointed out that the many ways in which propaganda was distributed.
There were two interesting anomalies – the American University and an
Austrian coffee shop, where the group enjoyed coffee and cakes.
He showed various slides about the way of life in the country and took
questions at the end.
