Buses around Huddersfield

An illustrated talk about the many and varied buses and bus companies operating in and around Huddersfield. The slide show provoked a lot of memories of the buses we used to see and the different liveries adopted by the companies. Who can remember Hanson, Baddeleys, County Motors, etc?

Mike also recounted how the multiple companies merged into the few that operate now even though after de-regulation, anyone could start a bus company and operate on any route they chose. But then the bigger companies out scheduled them and undercut their prices. It was fascinating to learn how many second-(third-?, fourth-?)hand buses ran around the area, some from as far as Singapore. Equally fascinating was where obsolete vehicles ended up.
