Today's speaker was Danial Tyas from a local charity "Demand" which since 1980 specialises in supporting people with physical and learning difficulties.
He described a number of bespoke projects that enabled people to overcome life problems through innovation and commitment to meet often enormous problems that we all take for granted. He gave examples of the projects that they had undertaken, each one designed and hand-built in consultation with the person they were working for and their support personnel and the effect that this had had on the persons life. Not all were high tech - one was a set of steps so that a young boy could get in and out of his chair on his own.
He described how the Brockholes based charity was collaborating with a number of universities including Huddersfield with future projects including 3D technology.
