Parole Board
Patrick Robertshaw
Today's speaker was Patrick Robertshaw who gave an informed overview on "The Parole Board" and its position in the Justice system.
He stressed the key role of the parole board in protecting the public and that they get it right most of the time but on occasion they can get it wrong.
He described how he attends formal hearings at prisons in England and wales in order to take into account the views of the prison, specialist organisations and the prisoner themselves. He stressed the views of victims are also considered.
He ended with a lively questions and answers session.
